About Second Sight Productions

Welcome to Second Sight Productions, where we aim to produce high quality specialist countryside and machinery programmes on DVD, with occasional forays into book publishing. The company, set up in 2000 by Alan James, has gone from strength to strength, rapidly becoming the first port of call for many a tractor enthusiast having earned a reputation for the reliable quality, creativity and content of it's programmes.

Alan James has had more years in programme production than he cares to remember but has worn all the hats necessary to allow him to run SSP with confidence and flair. Based in spatial offices in his garden, Alan does a lot of the filming, edits and creates all SSP produced programmes, writes scripts as well as having an involvement alongside Marian in the day to day running of the company.

Marian joined the company in 2005 when the business had grown to a point where there were no longer enough hours in the day for Alan to make programmes as well as keep on top of all the orders and admin. This side of the business, along with the processing and packing of orders is'dealt with by'Marian three days a week.'Now knowing more about tractors than she would care to admit, she'still prefers horsepower of the four legged variety.

Maisie the Parson Russell Terrier spends most afternoons in the office dozing on her favourite chair with sporadic visits to check on the hens that live at the bottom of the garden!

As the 'Tractor Lads' John Whitlam and Stephen Richmond's claim to fame is that of appearing on the 1990's Girlie TV Show! In their defence it helped to promote the publication of their first book about tractors very successfully!

They're being taken much more seriously now as tractor and machinery experts and both regularly contribute articles to trade magazines. Jonathan can't believe his luck as he now spends his days either filming farm machinery or driving it! He also helps write many of the scripts for SSP programmes and both he and Stephen occasionally front them.

Stephen has been in farming all his working life and like Jonathan has a vast amount of knowledge which he enjoys sharing through SSP programmes. Stephen and Jonathan are themselves the proud owners of several classic tractors which they are in the process of restoring - when they get the time to do it!
